University Students Attend Asset Management Forum in New York City

Six students involved in the Economic and Finance Society attended the Quinnipiac Global Asset Management Education forum (G.A.M.E.) in New York City in early 2015. The G.A.M.E. V forum provided an international group of college students and faculty with a unique opportunity to interact with industry leaders and learn best practices in investment management.

Keynote speakers featured many influential financial business people such as: Richard Bernstein, CEO of Richard Bernstein Advisors LLC; Abby Joseph Cohen, CFA, Senior Investment Strategist & President of Global Markets Institute, Goldman Sachs; and Jon Najarian, co-founder of optionMONSTER.com and tradeMONSTER.com.

“This trip was invaluable to me. I cannot stress enough how much of an eye opener it was. The forum enlightened us about the forefront of the financial services industry, which included technological advances and their implications, old concepts being disregarded due to new circumstances, new instruments and concepts being introduced and last but not least the dynamicity of the global markets today,” said Nishanth Arepalli, graduate research assistant for the economics and finance department.

The forum asked speakers to share their views on global markets, corporate governance, global economies and investment strategies. Alongside keynote speakers, the forum presented panel discussions, workshop presentations and a panel with young professionals.

“All in all, this trip was a learning experience. I am bringing back new knowledge about asset management, career paths, education, diversity and new ideas for our group to implement,” said Courtney Stanford, Economics and Finance Society's media director.
