ADMISSIONS EXAMS

The ACT assessment is a nationally recognized college admission exam that tests the areas of English, math, reading and science with an optional written essay. ACT results with no essay are accepted by Texas A&M University-Commerce for admission. The ACT is a curriculum-based test. The questions on the ACT are directly related to what you have learned in your high school courses in English, mathematics and science. The ACT is normally administered in October, December, February, April and June.

Exam Day Breakdown

What to Expect on Exam Day

• Report to the foyer of the McDowell Business Administration Building between 7:30 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. on the test date for which you are registered on your admission ticket.
• The ACT begins at 8 a.m. (You will NOT be admitted if you are late)
• Students taking the ACT without essay (standard time) are generally finished by 12:15 p.m. (Examinees taking the optional written essay should be finished by 1 p.m.).
• Testing includes one break.

What to Bring

• Your test center admission ticket
• Identification
• Sharpened soft-lead No. 2 pencils with good erasers (Do NOT bring mechanical pencils)
• A permitted calculator, if you wish to use one on the mathematics test

What Not to Bring

If any of the prohibited items are brought to the center, they will be taken up and turned off (if necessary). The center is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

The SAT measures the critical reading, mathematical reasoning, and writing skills that you have developed over time and the skills you need to be academically successful in college. The SAT assesses how well you analyze and solve problems—skills that are needed in college. The SAT is an accepted exam for admission requirements at Texas A&M University-Commerce. The SAT is normally administered in October, November, December, February, March, May and June.

NOTE: College Board no longer offers SAT subject tests. The essay is only available in states where it's required as part of SAT school-day administrations. Students scheduled to take the SAT on a school day should check with their school about whether the essay will be included. For more information, see the College Board’s SAT page.
