Introducing the Student Organization of Latinos

A new student organization at Texas A&M University-Commerce was recently created to promote the personal, professional and leadership development of Latino students.

Participants in the Student Organization of Latinos (SOL) want to cultivate a greater sense of belonging and unity that contributes to the success of Latino American students at A&M Commerce.

“SOL is important because it allows students the opportunity to find self-identification,” said the president of the organization, Juan Silva.

Students in the organization must be enrolled in at least six credit hours and maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA. Since the organization does not require fees, the involvement of members in fundraisers, workshops, and events are essential and form the foundation of building a collaborative environment.
