A&M-Commerce presents the Rising Lion Program, an exciting summer opportunity that prepares incoming freshmen for academic success.
This structured academic program provides resources and support that will help you smoothly transition into college life. As a participant, you can jump-start your education by taking two classes during the summer. You will also benefit from a personal mentor, small classes, mandatory study times on Monday through Thursday and daily routines to ensure your academic success.
Additionally, you will enjoy a housing fee waiver, the opportunity to choose your resident hall for your entire freshmen year, a free book voucher for two classes, and fun and engaging activities across campus.
We are selecting approximately 250 students to participate in the Rising Lion Program during Summer 2020. For eligibility, you must be accepted to A&M-Commerce.

Cost and Funding
We want to make the Rising Lion Program affordable for all. Below are the costs for the summer 2020 program. You’ll also receive a waiver on the $100 housing fee. Payment for the Rising Lion Program is due on July 6th, 2020.

Program sign-up deadlines

Who decides which two courses I will enroll in?
Where will I live on campus?
You will have the option to choose between three residence halls on campus: Whitley Hall, Pride Rock and Phase 3. You will choose your residents hall when you have been admitted to the Rising Lion Program. The room you choose will be the room you will stay in for the duration of your freshmen year.
When does the Rising Lion Program begin and end?
What if I have vacation plans, family reunion etc. during the time of the Rising Lion Program?
What if I have TASFA, can I participate in the program?
What classes will I take during the program?
The course offered will be a part of the A&M-Commerce general education core curriculum. Example classes include math, science, English and history. For those who have dual credit, an elective and our signature course will be offered which is part of our core curriculum to graduate.
