Renowned Presenter Robert Stevenson to Speak at A&M-Commerce

Robert Stevenson, author of “How to Soar Like an Eagle in a World Full of Turkeys,” will present on responsibility, leadership, success and innovation on Oct. 29 at 5:30 p.m. in Ferguson Auditorium. The event is hosted by A&M-Commerce's chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) and will be broadcast live to leadership groups across the nation. Attendance is free of charge, and all community members are welcome to attend.

Stevenson's speaking career spans more than 20 years, during which he has shared the stage with former President George H.W. Bush, former Secretary of State Colin Powell and Steven Covey, author of “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People.” Stevenson has presented at more than 2,500 companies, interviewing over 10,000 employees, managers and senior executives along the way. In three decades, Stevenson has garnered extensive corporate and entrepreneurial experience and maintains a list of clients that includes American Express, Lockheed Martin, Harley-Davidson and FedEx.

“Robert Stevenson is one of the most widely recognized professional speakers in the world, and it is our pleasure to host him at A&M-Commerce,” said Dr. Shonda Gibson, executive director of Global Learning and NSLS chapter advisor. “Students, faculty, staff and the community should look forward to an exciting presentation that will surely inspire everyone to seek excellence!”

Independently, Stevenson has brought his tactics for achieving excellence to a wide audience. As of 2012, his “How to Soar Like an Eagle in a World Full of Turkeys” has sold 60,000 copies without the backing of a major publishing house or a large budget for promotion. Stevenson's recent work, “52 Essential Habits for Success,” will similarly find its following through what the author calls “the greatest form of advertising” – word of mouth. Stevenson's appearance at A&M-Commerce will bring his success strategies to a new audience that will consist of student leaders who may continue to spread the word.

“We are honored to host Mr. Stevenson at our campus and to provide our students with tools to assist in achieving their goals,” said Dr. Mary Hendrix, vice president of Student Access & Success and NSLS chapter advisor. “[He] is a perfect complement to our university mission – to discover and disseminate knowledge for leadership and service.”
