Whether your interest is in the structure and chemical reactions in living systems, properties and reactions of organic or inorganic minerals and compounds, or how matter behaves on a molecular level, a degree in chemistry will prepare you for industry career or graduate studies. A wide variety of careers are available to chemists in industry, the government or academia. Options include, but are not limited to, chemical health and safety, toxicology, oil and petroleum, forensics, textiles, agriculture and food, polymers, environmental protection, and research.

You'll take courses in general and organic chemistry, physics, and biology. Our program offers specialized teaching courses for chemistry teachers including roles and responsibilities for STEM educators, technology-infused curriculum, and project-based learning in STEM. You'll be required to complete a teaching residency senior year. After graduating, you'll be certified to teach science at the secondary level (grades 7-12).

Faculty research interests within the department include metal binding, surface chemistry for industrially-important catalysts, ionic liquids as catalysts in organic reactions, porphyrin-based anion receptors, bacterial nucleic acid metabolism and green chemistry approaches. This program offers a 15-credit hour graduate certificate intended to document foundational skills and expertise in computational linguistics and natural language processing (NLP). The coursework for the certificate aims to overcome the common lack of foundational knowledge in both pillars of this multidisciplinary field, computer science and linguistics, introducing the basic issues in these fields as they are relevant to computational linguistics.

The Master of Education in Counseling is a 36-semester hour program designed for those students who plan to work in college and university student affairs, but prefer a counseling foundation in their preparation. Graduates of this program typically seek employment in student activities, career services, academic advising, Greek affairs, recruiting and admissions, residence life, and other departments and offices within the student affairs division of community colleges and four-year colleges and universities.
The Master of Science in Counseling offers an emphasis in School Counseling (51 semester hours) for those students seeking certification as a professional school counselor and an emphasis in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (60 semester hours) for those students desiring licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). Both programs include a common core as well as courses specific to each emphasis. Students now can obtain School Counselor + LPC.

The Ph.D. in Counseling includes 69-72 hours of coursework in the classroom and online. This total includes field experience, advanced courses, research tools and finally, a dissertation.

Our program equips you with acting techniques and skills, theatrical presentation, direction, production and management of theatre operations and insight on modern theatre and theatre of varying cultures which will prepare you for careers in acting, design, technology management, production, theatre management, education and sound management.
Our program equips you with the acting, directing and production skills needed for the high school classroom. You'll take courses in stage management, theatre operations, costume design and lighting. Gain insight into modern theatre and theatre of varying cultures through our course offerings. Our combined theatre and education program prepares you for a career in teaching. You'll take courses in pedagogy, learning processes and development, and classroom management. After completing a teaching residency, you'll be certified to teach theatrical arts at the secondary level (grades 7-12).
Students can focus on the following topics: acting, lighting, modern theatre, theatre history, theatrical design, directing, management, playwriting, theatre pedagogy and theory. We provide our students with an easy admission process, access to scholarships and graduate assistantships, individualized attention from award-winning faculty and a flexible combination of online and face-to-face instruction.
