Metropolitan Opera’s Sarah Mesko to Lead Virtual Masterclass for TAMUC Voice Students

On Monday, March 22, Metropolitan Opera rising star mezzo-soprano Sarah Mesko will present a virtual vocal masterclass on the campus of Texas A&M University-Commerce. Three students will perform live in Finney Concert Hall while Mesko works with them virtually through the Zoom video conferencing platform. In a statement earlier this week, Mesko said, “I’m really looking forward to hearing the students, and offering any ideas I can to support them in their singing!” The event will be held on Monday, March 22 from 4 to 5 p.m. Mesko will work with each student as they sing through one piece, focusing on vocal technique, dramatic interpretation, and stage presence. Feedback from such a highly trained, professional, classical singer is invaluable to young musicians, and will benefit anyone wishing to learn more about the craft of singing. Student performers include Vanessa Carrasco, Brittany Morrison and Erica Carranza, all accompanied by Laura Maxwell, staff accompanist and adjunct instructor of piano. The masterclass is free of charge and open to the public via the Zoom link. For more information about Sarah Mesko, please visit her website.
