Library Assistant Receives NSLS Award

Tina Freeman, Library Assistant II-Media for Texas A&M University-Commerce, recently received an Honorary Membership award from the National Society of Leadership and Success.

The National Society of Leadership and Success, or Sigma Alpha Pi, is a national honor society dedicated to helping its members discover and achieve their goals. Each local chapter of the NSLS selects students or faculty to become members by invitation and nomination only. With over 200 collegiate chapters, their mission is to build leaders who make a better world via leadership development tools and peer-to-peer networking. Tina Freeman was nominated for her Honorary Membership award by faculty and student organization leaders of A&M-Commerce for her support of the student organizations by providing them equipment and technical assistance to make their events successful. Tina's main responsibility is to coordinate the scheduling and delivery of media items and multimedia equipment to support faculty classroom instruction and the equipment needs of student organizations.

“One of Tina's strengths is her working knowledge of library media equipment and trouble-shooting the equipment as necessary to maintain proper working order,” said Sue Weatherbee, Access Services Manager at Gee Library. “I am proud of her. She works very hard to support the student organizations of A&M-Commerce.”

“I was so thrilled and surprised to receive the Honorary Membership Award from The National Society of Leadership and Success,” said Freeman. “What an honor, thank you!  It is so gratifying to know that my work and dedication to the university faculty, staff and student organizations has been noticed and appreciated.”
