High School Students Invited To Financial Aid Seminar

COMMERCE, Texas – Area college bound high school students and their parents are invited to a financial aid workshop at Texas A&M University-Commerce on Sunday, Feb. 22.

The College Goal Sunday event will be from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Traditions Room of the Sam Rayburn Student Center.

Financial aid advisers will be available to answer financial aid questions for parents and students, said Dolly Lasater, director of the A&M-Commerce Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships.

The students and parents will receive assistance in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is used to determine eligibility for federal and state financial aid programs, such as grants, loans, and work study.

“To get the most out of your two hours, students and parents need to bring all of their 2008 tax information, such as W2s and tax returns,” Lasater said.

Colleges, universities, and high schools throughout the state are holding College Goal Sunday events on their campuses. For locations, call 888-311-8881 or visit financial aid.tamu.edu/cgs.
