Faculty Fellows Announced for 2015-16 Academic Year

This academic year marks the second year of Faculty Fellowships for faculty members at A&M-Commerce. In addition to the two Faculty Fellowships – Teaching & Learning, the Center for Faculty Excellence and Innovation (CFEI) announced one Faculty Fellowship – Special Project for the 2015-16 academic year.

“The fellowships are sponsored by the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Adolfo Benavides, and the Director of the CFEI. These fellowships provide a great opportunity for faculty to engage in first-hand research and scholarship on a topic of choice that is beneficial to the A&M-Commerce teaching and learning community of faculty,” said Dr. Julie McElhany, director of CFEI.

After a competitive application process with the Faculty Center Advisory Committee, the following fellowships were confirmed:

2015-16 Faculty Fellows – Teaching & Learning

  • Dr. Rebecca Dibbs for her proposed project, “Mindsets & Retention in Entry-Level Mathematics Courses”
  • Dr. Robynne Lock for her proposed “Development of Studio Mode in Physics” project

2015-16 Faculty Fellow – Special Project

  • Dr. Brittany Hott who will develop the Lion Institutes for Educators (LIFE) professional development programs

The 2014-15 Faculty Fellowships – Teaching & Learning were awarded to Dr. William Newton for his project, “Innovative Online Master's Courses in Physics for Teachers” and Dr. Robin Reid for her “Plagiarism Prevention Project.”

Newton will present his completed project on Friday, September 25, 2015 from 10 a.m. to 10:20 a.m. in the new CFEI Conference Room at Gee Library, suite 173 during the CFEI Grand Opening weeklong series of events. The CFEI extends an invitation to all faculty members to attend and participate in all events scheduled during its grand opening celebrations.
