Economics and Finance Society Hosts Series of Distinguished Speakers

The Economics and Finance Society recently hosted a series of distinguished speakers. The series is held multiple times each semester and the events are open and free to all students.

“The Distinguished Speaker Series allowed for students to get a first-hand look through the eyes of CEOs and CFOs working in the finance industry,” said Secretary of the Economics and Finance Society Evan Meek. “Connections were made, internships developed and the attendees came away with a greater understanding of the finance world and the different possibilities that one can pursue in future careers. Educating students, which was our goal, helped enrich the attendees and the overall university.”

Speakers included, President of the Dallas Commodity Company Inc. Mitch LaRocca Jr; President of Patriot Bank Christopher Shaw; Dallas County Community College District Accounting Curriculum Chair and Adjunct Instructor at A&M-Commerce, Ronald Schmidt; CPA Tax Accountant for Daseke Toby Moon; and President and Portfolio Manager at Rockwood Investment Partners, Tim Griffith.
