Data Analytics Faceoff Competition Nominated for Tech Titans Award

The Data Analytics Faceoff competition at Texas A&M University-Commerce was nominated for the Tech Titans of the Future University Award for 2018. The award recognizes educational institutions that encourage and support students in choosing engineering and technology-related disciplines as a preferred path.

“The Tech Titans nomination is truly the IT industry leaders' and peer educators' recognition towards the new education model we are building and exploring at Texas A&M University-Commerce,” said Dr. Bo Han, associate professor of business analytics and coordinator for the Faceoff competition.

The University Award category spotlights tech-related curricula and incentives that perpetuate technical knowledge transfer at higher education institutions in the DFW area.

“The Faceoff competition is not only helpful for students to get in touch with the latest data analytics models and technologies but is also important for our university to develop the new pedagogy in the ubiquitous and experiential learning era,” Dr. Han said.

Other Tech Titans award categories recognize large companies, small companies, executives, individual employees, investment catalysts, students, teachers and even companies which support the high-tech sector.

“For 18 years, we have seen amazing innovation from nominees,” said Bill Sproull, president and CEO of Tech Titans. “We are honored to highlight such impressive companies, individuals and organizations that lay the foundation for future growth and progress.”

The finalists in the University Award category also included University of Texas at Arlington, University of Texas at Dallas and University of North Texas.

Tech Titans is the largest technology trade association in Texas, representing a quarter million employees through its 300 member companies. Tech Titans includes a diverse group of technology leaders from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies who collaborate to help innovation thrive in the region.
