Dance Marathon at A&M-Commerce on January 24

The Lions Leap Dance Marathon will be hosted at Texas A&M University-Commerce on January 24 from noon to midnight at the Rayburn Student Center.

Student organizations and faculty/staff departments can sign up teams to dance at this 12-hour event. There will be 12 themed music styles including: Zumba, Glow Race, Hip-Hop, Break Dancing, International, Swing Dancing, Ballroom and Two-stepping among others.

“The Dance Marathon is a tradition found on many college campuses today,” said Kyle Hickman, Graduate Assistant for Leadership Engagement and Development (L.E.A.D.). “We are excited to bring it to A&M-Commerce because it is a fun, high energy, community-wide philanthropy event. It is going to give students, faculty and staff the chance to come together, represent their respective organizations and departments, and challenge themselves to dance for 12 hours for a great cause.”

At least one dancer must dance the entire marathon. The other team members will be there for support, to dance with the dancers and assist in raising financial support for the team.

This event will raise money for the Commerce Boys and Girls Club. Their goal is to reach $5,000.

Registration for the Dance Marathon closes on December 13.
