COEHS Congratulations

Congratulations “Chancellor” Joe May

Counseling & Guidance alumnus, Dr. Joe May, has been selected as the Dallas County Community College district's seventh chancellor. His higher education experience includes teaching at the community college and university levels, serving as an academic administrator in many different capacities and conducting higher education consulting for Best Associates, based in Dallas. DCCCD's new chancellor, who is a native of East Texas, begins his tenure on February 26, 2014. Dr. May, your success is our success. As President Jones would say, “It's always a great day to be a Lion, and we could not be more proud that one of our own will be heading one of the largest community college districts in the nation.  Dr. May adds to our growing list of alumni who have served in senior leadership positions in schools, colleges, and universities, and I know that he will accomplish great things at DCCCD.”

Congratulations “President” Robert Riza

Dr. Robert Riza received a Master’s degree in Secondary Education in 2000 and a Doctorate in Education in 2003 from A&M- Commerce. Since 2009, Dr. Riza has served as the Vice President of Student Affairs at Hill College and has played an essential role in A&M- Commerce’s involvement in University Partners, a program created to help students successfully transfer from Hill to a four year university.
