CAIN SPORTS COMPLEX

Located on the western edge of campus, the Cain Sports Complex is a multipurpose outdoor facility for Texas A&M University-Commerce and the Commerce community. It features multiple sports fields, four tennis courts, a support facility for equipment check out and restrooms, four sand volleyball courts with small support facility with restrooms, and multipurpose green spaces.

Home to Campus Recreation’s Intramural and Club Sports program, the Cain Sports Complex plays host to numerous outdoor Intramural and Club Sport events. Traditional league sports such as flag football, soccer, ultimate frisbee, and softball can be seen throughout the year. Check out the Intramural schedule to learn more about these opportunities. Men’s Club Soccer hosts their practices and home games here as well.

GENERAL POLICIES

  • General field use is for TAMUC students, faculty and staff.
  • Patrons, players, and spectators assume their own risk.
  • Field reservations are made through Campus Recreation.
  • Fields are first come, first serve when not reserved or in use by Campus Recreation programs.
  • Organized activities and external groups must reserve fields. (Fees may apply)
  • Leave the courts, spectator and surrounding areas clean.
  • Leash, supervise, and clean up after your pet.
  • Campus Recreation is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items.

Prohibited

  • Obscene, vulgar, disrespectful, discriminatory, or sexually-oriented language
  • Alcohol, controlled substances, vapor devices, and all forms of tobacco
  • Parking or driving vehicles on fields
  • Fireworks without approval
  • Golfing, except on bottom fields
  • Glass containers
  • Using fields with standing water
  • Tampering with field equipment

Anyone in violation is subject to immediate removal from the facility and potential loss of recreational privileges.

TENNIS COMPLEX GUIDELINES

  • Patrons, players, and spectators assume their own risk.
  • Players, coaches, and spectators should express proper sportsmanship and gamesmanship.
  • Courts are for tennis and pickleball. No skating activities (e.g. skateboarding, rollerblading, hockey, etc.) are permitted.
  • Students and MRC members can check out equipment at the Cain Sports Building.
  • Return checked out equipment before leaving the facility.
  • Court reservations are made through Campus Recreation.
  • Leave the courts, spectator, and surrounding areas clean.
  • Campus Recreation staff will determine if the playing surface is safe before, during, and after inclement weather.

Prohibited

  • Obscene, vulgar, disrespectful, discriminatory, or sexually-oriented language
  • Tampering with netting and court equipment
  • Alcohol, controlled substances, vapor devices, and all forms of tobacco
  • Beverages in a non-sealable container
  • Pets on the tennis court

SAND VOLLEYBALL COMPLEX

  • Patrons, players, and spectators assume their own risk.
  • Players, coaches, and spectators should express proper sportsmanship and gamesmanship.
  • Courts are first come, first serve unless reserved.
  • Court reservations are made through Campus Recreation.
  • Students and MRC members can check out equipment at the Cain Sports Building.
  • Return checked out equipment before leaving the facility.
  • Leave the courts, spectator, and surrounding areas clean.

THE MAC

Constructed in 2017, the $2.3 million multi-activity court (The MAC) serves multiple recreational opportunities including:

  • Informal recreation such as arena soccer, futsal, and volleyball
  • Intramural Sports
  • Group Fitness and Personal Training
  • Special Events

The MAC can be used full court or sectioned into three smaller courts by a divider system. It also has an open seating area with an overhead awning for watching acitivities, or hosting special events or gatherings.

Patrons can check out sports equipment at the MAC check-in desk.

INFORMAL RECREATION

Campus Recreation provides drop-in opportunities for recreational activities that encourage patrons to meet new people and partake in friendly competition in a variety of sports. Basketball, volleyball, table tennis, racquetball, arena soccer, and badminton are some of the main activities.

EQUIPMENT CHECKOUT

Recreational equipment is available for checkout at the Front Desk with a valid Lion Card. All equipment is required to be returned in the same condition and same day in which it was checked out. A replacement cost may be charged for any lost, late, or damaged equipment.

*All outdoor adventure based equipment can be checked out at the Outdoor Center on Culver Street behind the Cain Sports Complex.

RACQUETBALL COURT RESERVATIONS

To reserve a racquetball court, please call the Campus Rec front desk at 903.468.3181. You must call at least one hour prior to the time you want the reservation. Only one reservation can be made by a patron in a day. If there is a reservation for the hour following your reservation, then you must gather your things and have the court cleared 5 minutes prior to the next reservation. If you do not show up within 5 minutes of your reservation, then you will forfeit your time.

Note: During evening hours demand for racquetball is high, equipment may not be available for checkout.

TWO COURT GYM

These two multi-function courts that can be used for basketball, volleyball, pickleball, futsal, and badminton. They are first come, first served and can be used for any sport dependent on the availability. Campus Recreation events and reservations always have priority to informal recreation. The courts can be reserved by departments and organizations, but may include a fee. Informal Recreation is a very important aspect of the facility, therefore reservation space may be very limited.
