Applications open for Faculty Fellowships for Teaching and Learning

Provost Adolfo Benavides and the Center for Faculty Excellence and Innovation (CFEI) invite full-time faculty to submit applications for the 2015-2016 Faculty Fellowships for Teaching and Learning.  Recipients of the two competitive fellowships will each be awarded a $4,000 stipend for the academic year, one reassigned time for fall and spring and an additional $500 available to use in attending a conference to present the results of the project. The selection committee is seeking a diversity of ideas from faculty who represent a range of disciplines for this year's fellowship.

“When the Faculty Fellowship was announced, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to develop online versions of master's level physics courses for teachers,” said Dr. William G. Newton, 2014-2015 Faculty Fellowship recipient and assistant professor of physics. “The Faculty Fellowship enabled us to open up our master's program to the state as a whole so that we could make as big an impact as we possibly could for our course.”

The fellowship is used to bring colleagues together, encourage ideas and practices for effective teaching and support scholarly and creative endeavors. It also encourages the continuous development of teachers and scholars at Texas A&M University-Commerce.

Candidates for the Faculty Fellowship for Teaching and Learning must be full-time faculty members who have taught for at least one full academic year at A&M-Commerce. They must also contribute six to ten hours per week to project-related activities for the full 2015-2016 academic year (fall, spring and summer) and have endorsement from their dean or department head.

The Faculty Fellowship for Teaching and Learning initial application form and endorsement form must be complete by Friday, March 27. Forms can be submitted email via [email protected] with the subject line “Faculty Fellowship Application” or through campus mail to Dr. Julie McElhany, director of CFEI, in AGIT 222.
