A&M-Commerce Ranked No. 6 in Texas for Shaping the Next Generation

The Online College Database placed A&M-Commerce at No. 6 in its “Top Colleges in Texas: Shaping the Next Generation” rankings. The list consists of post-secondary institutions in Texas with the “highest number of graduates in 2012 in the fields of education and teaching,” according to the Online College Database website.

A&M-Commerce ranks highest among institutions included from The Texas A&M University System.

“Our high ranking on the list of ‘Top Colleges in Texas: Shaping the Next Generation' reflects our historical legacy and continuous commitment to invest in the field of teacher preparation,” said A&M-Commerce Provost and VP of Academic Affairs Adolfo Benavides. “It is rewarding to see that our efforts are recognized and gratifying to see that our graduates are making a positive impact in helping to develop the future educational leaders of Texas.”

The Online College Database selected only fully accredited public or private, non-profit institutions that grant four-year degrees and had at least 10 graduates from education or teaching disciplines in 2012.

In compiling its rankings, the Online College Database sourced data from the Integrated Post-secondary Education Data System (IPEDS), the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) and the Carnegie Classification system.

“Our success in preparing highly qualified teachers has never been more important than it is today. I'm proud that our university is receiving this well-deserved recognition,” A&M-Commerce President Dan R. Jones said.
