University Hosts the 9th International Conference on Differential Equations and Dynamical Systems

The Department of Mathematics recently hosted the 9th International Conference on Differential Equations and Dynamical Systems on May 14-16, 2015 at A&M-Commerce's downtown Dallas location.

“We were very excited about this conference,” said Professor and Mathematics Department Head Dr. Tingxiu Wang. “This conference brought active researchers in the world in differential equations and dynamical systems together to A&M-Commerce.”

The conference received more than 130 papers and 96 participants gave 106 presentations from 18 countries. The objective of the conference was to share recent progress in the theory and application of differential equations and dynamical systems.

“The attendees highly praised our downtown facility, were very impressed by our programs and growth, and greatly enjoyed visiting Dallas,” Dr. Wang said. “This conference significantly enhanced the publicity, reputation and recognition of A&M-Commerce and the mathematics undergraduate and graduate programs, and provided the department with a network of researchers in differential equations and dynamical systems.”

A&M-Commerce faculty Dr. Sirakov, Dr. Wang and Mr. Adam Bowden and students Chris Johnston and Bradford Garcia presented research papers and discussed their research with attendees from around the world.

The local host committee included Dr. Pam Webster, Dr. Padmapani Seneviratne, Dr. Nikolay Sirakov, two graduate students, two undergraduate students and committee chair Dr. Wang.

The Department of Mathematics will host the 97th Conference of the Texas Section of the Mathematical Association of America in 2017.
