Alumni Association to Build Brick Garden

The Alumni Association of Texas A&M University-Commerce, Inc. revealed plans to build a brick garden in honor of the university's upcoming 125th Anniversary.

“It's about legacy, it's about paying it forward,” says Derryle Peace, director of alumni relations. “The garden has both a tangible and intangible effect. While leaving our physical mark on campus, a portion of the brick sales goes toward the Alumni Legacy Scholarship, allowing us to shape the lives of future Lions.”

Located behind the Alumni Center on the university's main campus, the garden will consist of 2,500 personalized 4”x8” bricks. Construction on the garden will begin once all bricks are sold. Once constructed, patrons can use the online brick locator on the Alumni webpage to find their personalized brick.

“The Alumni Board members are very excited about this project,” says current Board President, Stan McKee. “We feel it will bridge many generations of Lions, allowing everyone that loves our university a chance to participate in its development.”

Bricks will be available for purchase online at www.tamuc.edu/BrickProject for $125 beginning Wednesday, December 4, 2013, and will be open to university family and friends, as well as the general public.
